Re-visiting The Beatles “Revolver”
So my wife bought me the new re-mastered Beatles boxed-set for Christmas, and I’m falling in love with The Beatles all over again. I’ve always been a huge Beatles fan since I first saw Ringo and the boys on Ed Sullivan (I know, I’m showing my age). In fact, it was Ringo Starr that infected me with this disease we call drumming. But I was always a bigger fan of their later works… White Album, Abbey Road, Let it Be, etc.
So I been listening to the Beatles for the last several days, mostly to the early albums. An then I came upon Revolver.
Sure I’ve heard many of these songs before – Taxman, Elanor Rigby, Good Day Sunshine – but never in an album format. And the clarity of these re-mastered discs is phenomenal, from the unheard 30hz thump of Ringo’s kick to the amazing spatial mix George Martin created all those years ago. Do yourself a favor, and re-visit the re-mixed Revolver. It will re-open your eyes!
